Day 2...for the sake of argument

You should know that nothing groundbreaking happened today...
I didn't run a marathon...
I didn't eat only lean proteins, vegetables and grains...
I didn't have any self awareness breakthroughs...

It was a regular day, a busy day even. A day much like many others.

This is part of the problem I think.

I remember the first time I started this whole "wellness journey" I was obsessed. Consumed even.

At this point in my life I'm thinking - "I can't possibly maintain the level of obsession that I stuck to last time around and still be a sane and whole individual." Not to mention the implications of job and responsibilities.

What I did do today:
-Didn't eat any wheat products (more on that for another day, but this is big right now)
-Taught Group Power and then did Yoga :)
-Made lunch for tomorrow - so that I don't eat out...even though it's Friday

Goal for tomorrow:
-Run (3, 5, 10k...I don't care - just need to do it)
-Remember everything I need to do (I completely bailed on a lovely young lady tonight unintentionally - I need to get in control of my own schedule. Maybe it's time to migrate back to Blackberry?)

So at the end of day 2 (another day two in a long string of day 2's that seem to pile up along the way) I still have a gut, I still don't fit into my favourite jeans, and I'm still here - doing what I can.

And so it begins...again

Alright world - here I am again.

Returning to the blogging world with hesitation...Blogging with a goal...Getting fit, loosing those extra few lbs, "cutting" the fat, all that junk.

A big part of me would like to tell you not to read these posts - Your reading may be reflected in accountability, in possibly unwanted feedback and most definitely in a kind of vulnerability that I am probably unwilling to participate in...but here I am.

Let me tell you a story:
The year leading up to my 25th birthday I weighed around 250 pounds and I was a miserable crap eating, lying around kind of mess. I had a great personality, and I had haunting memories of 8th grade gym class that gave me anxiety around any kind of physical activity.

I was unhappy and I knew it - So I turned my life around, I met some really supportive friends, I started USING my gym membership, I started eating like I cared about myself, and after not too terribly long the weight started coming off. I lost 70 pounds that year. For once in my life I wasn't the chubby girl. I loved it.

I turned 29 this year. I'm generally happy with life - I won't go into too much gushy details (cuz that's lame), but life is good.  However something else has changed, I've started to struggle again with my weight.People are funny. They say things like, "It's because you're happy," or "you must be really comfortable with Cliff, that's all," or "You don't look like you've gained any weight." Then again, those honest strangers say things like, "Oh my gosh you're pregnant!" ...(3 times in 3 months...)

So It's time. Again. I know it's a life long journey. I know it never ends.
I'm here to share the journey with you. Ups, downs and everything in between.

To start us off, here is an honest look at what "getting into shape" usually looks like :)

25. I am most definitely still "alive"

It has been brought to my attention that a lack of blogging may in fact lead to assumptions or questions about ones mortality. I'd just like to point out that despite my lack of interaction in this blogging world I have been out in the "real" world doing things like working at 3 different jobs and trying to make it big in Hollywood.

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Peace to all you vivacious bloggers out there. I'm headed back to the land of the living dead.

24. I'm terribly un-motivated

So I woke up today at 11:30am. I feel like I've been waking up at that time for weeks now. I need to start going to bed earlier again...man, I'm getting old. I have a cold again, but it's the first one since around my birthday I believe (that's a couple months, not bad...) and I'm loading up on vitamin C and feeling pretty decent. Sleep would help though, that is true.

In other news I'm thinking of walking to work today. I mean, I didn't go to the gym, and it seems like a reasonable idea...I only live about a 20min walk away...alright. I'll do it. Now that I have published that thought I can't back out of it.

In still MORE news, the new Harry Potter movie is coming out on the 15th. I'd like to go to opening night I think...and I think it would be hilarious fun to dress up. Who's in? Tonight I will begin reading books 1 & 2...perhaps even finishing them...they're pretty easy to get through.

Well. That's all for today :)
Happy procrastinating

23. Baking is for people with attention spans longer than 30 seconds

I love baking. I think that the end product is even worth the mess. I've always loved baking. There's something about throwing together a bunch of random ingredients and coming out with something really tasty (or just moderately tasty) to share with friends (or horde for yourself as the case may be).

I have made some really tasty baked goods, but here is what I have learned about myself. I am generally focused....but for the most part I always miss something. Something simple like, "pre-mix dry ingredients and add pre-mixed wet ingredients to that mixture" or "don't overmix" <--something that I'm not sure that I will ever manage to figure out, or "bake for 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees" I can almost guarantee that at least one batch of cookies will almost ALWAYS be burnt. WHY!?!?!?! I think it's because once I get to the results of that first batch, I lose focus.

SO. My baking...not always up to par. My solution usually includes a lot of chocolate chips and a cheese grater for the bottom of any burnt cookies. I think my NEW solution will be.....

FOLLOW THROUGH!!!!

Now, if you will excuse me, I baked cookies and muffins last night and the kitchen is still a disaster :D

22. I am a terrible blogger

Hello to all of my loyal blog followers. Many of you have expressed to me that my infrequent blogging has left you wanting more, wanting to remove me from your rss and leave me in the interweb dust.....BEFORE you do that, let me update you and fill your need for more of moi :)

In one of my recent updates I told you about my new fun...running. Not from anyone in particular, in fact mostly I run to catch up to others...one of the most fun things I've done in the last couple of months is the 5k Race that I ran with a few friends. I ran it in about 37minutes (which I was pretty pleased with considering it was my first distance run). I'm running my second 5k in June on the 21st and I'm always looking for pals to run along with me :) So if you're interested you should come! 30 dollars to register and you get a free tech fibre t-shirt!!

21. Final day of birthday month...

SO. This is it. Last day, last few hours.

Now, you would think that I would be depressed. Nah.
I Celebrated this last day with a yummy supper at Red Lobster (thanks to a gift certificate from gramma and papa), I had a great time at Medieval times and the Stampede and I loved seeing so many people that I have missed :)

Also, I realize that birthday month wasn't quite the blowout that I had intended it to be. Truth be told I ran out of bucks. :P That and working got in the way of partying. :P

Rest assured that there is still lots of time to celebrate with me. Because of my slacking I will extend birthday month until everyone has had their fill of partying with me :)

Let the offers begin :)
